Navigation menu: MediaWiki external link

From semantic-mediawiki.org

In the navigation menu (MediaWiki:Sidebar) is a link to MediaWiki, included under Users, Administrators and Developers. It links directly to the MediaWiki start page mediawiki.org. Besides being repetitive (3 times) I don't think it's good practice to lead away from the website in the main navigation, since it's surprising, unexpected and lacking context. Maybe a short subpage about MediaWiki including the link and added under General would work better? The same applies to a link to OSDA under General.

I did not see your post till now. Sorry for the delay in answering and thank you for your suggestions.

I believe that if you know what you are there is a high chance that you will not have a look at the other menus. Spares us from providing a single menu with 20+ selection items.

I have never thought about this but you may very well be right. Just changed to internal landing pages before the people can head of to ... :)
