This page describes the Announce your wiki option accessible via special page "SemanticMediaWiki". On that page it is found in its "Announce your wiki" section. It allows to publicly register and announce your wiki on WikiApiary - the wiki for tracking MediaWiki sites and enables supplemental external statistics collection by providing a link to a registration form. See the help page on the Semantic MediaWiki wiki registry for further information.
Data collected includes general as well as specific data, e.g.
- on the software used (PHP, database system, extensions, skins and libraries),
- on basic configuration settings (timezone, system language, upload size, etc.),
- on host date (IP address, reverse lookup, Netblock organization, etc.),
- the page, image, (active) user and edit count,
- the property, property value, property error count,
- the query, query page, query size and query format count
- many more ...
By default all users who are administrators (user group "sysop") or Semantic MediaWiki administrators (user group "smwadministrator") may use this option. This can be prevented by removing the user right "smw-admin" from the wiki administrators (user group "sysop") and additionally the respective user should not be assigned to be a Semantic MediaWiki administrator (user group "smwadministrator").
