A six-volume print publication "Historisches Lexikon Wien" by Felix Czeike, last printed in 2004 has been digitalized and converted to a Semantic MediaWiki intallation, the first run by the IT department of the city of Vienna. On September 11, 2014 the wiki has been made publicly available at http://geschichtewiki.wien.at, allowing anyone to contribute to it. For the city administration, the wiki will become a central resource and further content from different departments of the city administration will be added.
This presentation will provide an overview of the project. It will give a short history of how the project came into being, what the status now is an what is planned for the future. A few examples from the Wiki will show the interaction between the Wiki and the Archival Information System as well as Wien Kulturgut - a GIS-based platform for cultural content hosted by the city of Vienna.
