The Has type property is a special property in Semantic MediaWiki with a built-in meaning: it assigns a datatype to a property. Special page "Types" lists the datatypes available in the wiki.

For example, the page for property "Population" would specify
[[Has type::Number]]
as datatype "Number" is adequate in this case. To make the datatype setting more human readable it is suggested to add
This is a property of type [[Has type::Number]]
thus providing a bit of context.

From version Semantic MediaWiki 1.0 to Semantic MediaWiki 1.4.3, Semantic MediaWiki allowed many-valued properties. Types for these properties were specified by listing multiple types as the value of "Has type", separated by semicolons. Starting with Semantic MediaWiki 1.5.0, many-valued properties were replaced by datatype "Record".

See the page of special property "Has type" to see which pages use this special property on this wiki.

Note that has type can always be used verbatim in English, but many other languages have translations for this property. It is probably preferred to use the translated version:

  • German: Datentyp
  • Traditional Chinese: 設有型態
  • Simplified Chinese: 设有型态
  • Slovakian: Má typ
  • Russian: Имеет тип
  • Polish: Ma typ
  • Dutch: Heeft type
  • Korean: 이 유형
  • Hebrew: מטיפוס
