Semantic MediaWiki 2.1.0Released on 19 January 2015 and compatible with MW 1.19.0 - 1.24.x. introduced the display of help messages when editing a page1 making it easier for those users yet unfamiliar with the usage of Semantic MediaWiki to find entry points to further information. Depending on the type of page, the messages displayed will change.
It is possible to disable the display of these help messages globally on a wiki by changing the setting for configuration parameter
$smwgEnabledEditPageHelpSets whether helpful information is displayed when editing a page. To avoid having to make a general determintation for the wiki and thus providing more flexibility a user preference option was added with Semantic MediaWiki 3.0.0Released on an unknown date and compatible with MW 1.27.0 - 1.30.x. allowing user's to set the display of the help messages according to their personal requirement.2
