Karsten Ehms is Senior Consultant for Knowledge Management and Digital Collaboration at Siemens Foundational Technologies. He holds a PhD degree in media paedagogy from the institute for media and educational technology (University of Augsburg), a degree of advanced studies in psychology (Dipl.-Psych. Univ.) and a bachelor of electrical engineering (Vordiplom) from the university of Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Karsten has been dealing professionally with topics of organizational learning and knowledge since 1995. Since 2000, he has been supporting management units of various sizes at Siemens AG in mastering the strategic and operational challenges of knowledge management. He is co-author of the first maturity model in this field (KMMM®) and has implemented various projects on knowledge organization. Between 2005 and 2015, he was moderator of the Siemens-wide community of practice for knowledge management. He was project manager for over 100 business and research projects. The development and introduction of the first global social media platform in 2006 proved his concepts for the introduction of participative and user-centric platforms in an organizational context. To date, he has maintained and further developed knowledge platforsm in various roles.

From 2019 to 2024, Dr. Karsten Ehms was a member of the Advisory Board of the Gesellschaft für Wissensmanagement e. V. (GfWM) from 2019 to 2024 and has been its president since 2024.
