Categorize wikis of the Month

From semantic-mediawiki.org

Hey, I would like to catgorize wikis of the month with their purpose :

  • directory
  • catalog
  • specialized encyclopedia
  • project management
  • knowledge base about one economic sector

Please tell me if you see another categories.

Cheers

In theory that could be interesting, although in practice this set of values seems somewhat confusing. What's the difference between a "directory" and a "catalog"? And what's an economic sector? I did my own categorization of SMW wikis on smw.referata.com, by the way - you can see the values I came up with (under "Data type") here.

I guess there is nothing against categorizing the wikis of the month. Finding adequate categories is indeed a important thing to consider. The categories from the Community wiki will probably be a good shot. Cheers

Hello, For me a catalog stores products or services and a directory stores informations about persons or enterprises.

The knowledge base about one economic sector could store both a catalog and a directory and other information on an economic sector like I did with domotiki about home automation.

The categories that I would like describes more the purpose of the website (storing information about persons in a diretory or managing a project) than the theme.

The aim is to show the different matter of using SMW and how best wikis did it. In order to finally get the best practice for each type of wikis.

a+

Out of curiosity, how would you classify KnowIt? And are there any wikis that would fit into "knowledge base about one economic sector" besides Domotiki?
