Recommended Revisions (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Recommended_Revisions) is a project with two main goals:
- To provide a set of recommended extensions and skins, and their specific revisions, for each MediaWiki version (or at least each LTS version)
- To define a syntax for users to specify their own set of extensions and skins.
The Recommended Revisions listings are already used by two projects: the MediaWiki distribution Canasta, which uses it to populate a wiki with a full set of extensions and skins, and the MediaWiki extension Springboard, which allows administrators to download any of the extensions and skins it lists.
This talk will cover the project and its uses, as well as possibilities for additional usage. It will also cover issues of future governance around the project.
