Update of latest version on main page
Hi Jeroen, I just created this template to easily update the current version of SMW on all the main pages. Since I do not have access to the English main page it would be cool if you would do that for me. DE and NL are already up-to-date. Cheers --kgh 17:32, 4 November 2010 (CET)
Hey, good idea. I put the template into the main page and the SMW release template. I still have to package SMW 1.5.3 (will do in a few hours), so not having the category in the news item is intentional. --Jeroen De Dauw 17:52, 4 November 2010 (CET)
- Hi, no probs and worries. I did not know. Thank you for doing the template-magic. :-) Cheers --kgh 17:57, 4 November 2010 (CET)
Help:Special:Browse#Display_all
Hi Jeroen, may you have a look at this part of the documentation? It says that setting this parameter to true is more "expensive" that the standard setting for this parameter. It also states that the standard setting is true. Hmm ... Additionally I cannot find the file there the defaults for this special page are set. Probably it is to late for me today. Thank you and cheers --kgh 23:54, 29 May 2011 (CEST)
- Hey. I did a search through the SMW codebase, and there appears to be no $smwgBrowseAll, so I guess it has been removed in some previous version. As for $smwgBrowseShowInverse, it's still there, and is set to false by default. I'm not familiar with either of these settings, so can't really help you further. --Jeroen De Dauw 18:38, 6 June 2011 (CEST)

Translation issue
Hi Jeroen! I suddenly faced the function and your warning. I'm translating the documentation to Russian at the moment, so is it possible to have updates in documentation for my language? --Katkov Yury 07:28, 7 August 2011 (CEST)
- Hi Yury, I was curious too to learn what this is all about and entered on scratchpad.referata.com. All the messages are already translated. You just have to make sure that all Russian translations were done on translatewiki.net. Thus one should just enter this into the documentation page and its contents gets displayed automatically as soon as Markus updated this wiki to SMW 1.6.0 That's awesome I presume. :) Cheers --kgh 11:47, 7 August 2011 (CEST)
- For the documentation provided by the , there are some content that need to be corrected or translated in Chinese (zh-hans). How can I do this? At the moment, I cannot find them on translatewiki.net. Thanks. --Linforest 13:52, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Usually the messages are provided to SMW via Validator by the respective extension if I have understood correctly. However I realised a mistake with the German translation, too which I cannot localise at translatewiki.net either. I guess that your are referring to the third column "type". I have to investigate in this case. Cheers --kgh 15:10, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Heiya kgh! Not only the third column "type", e.g., especially the 4th column "Description" where Chinese translation often need to be improved or created. Thanks. :) --Linforest 15:18, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- I found my troublemaker, it was message MediaWiki:Validator-describe-listtype which I totally misunderstood. So I am actually the cause of the German problems. I will add a /qqq to it. When it comes to the fourth column you will find the Chinese translations here for SRF, here for SM, etc. Cheers --kgh 15:27, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- For example, I just want to update the content of the table automatically generated in the Section Parameters on the Chinese page Help:模板格式( for the English page Help:Template format). Cheers --Linforest 15:40, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Ah, I see. No, these are hardcoded and cannot be translated afaik. Cheers --kgh 15:46, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Many thanks, kgh! Cheers--Linforest 15:52, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- These messages use the same internationalization system as the rest of MediaWiki, so you should be able to localize them just the same as other UI messages. --Jeroen De Dauw 19:02, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- It is really possible to translate the parameter names, too? Cheers --kgh 20:44, 13 March 2012 (CET)

(unindent, we seriously need LQT here :)
- Since it is on life-support I would not recommend it right now. Perhaps someone with closer ties to WMF should poke them to start doing the 3.0 ;) --kgh 00:24, 14 March 2012 (CET)
This is not implemented, but could easily be added, since we already have aliasing. Not sure I'd be very useful though - I think we discussed this already. Parameter names and values should be the only stuff you cannot internationalize. Lmk if this is not the case. --Jeroen (a dog is an animal I hope...)
- I do not think it is useful either, so I would leave it hardcoded as is, at least for the time being. Cheers --kgh 00:24, 14 March 2012 (CET) PS Your really seem to like the QuestyCAPTACHAs I invented. :D
GSoC 2012
Heiya Jeroen, I saw that you removed all the project ideas from the page since Google unfortunately did not accept OSDA's application. :( Still, I think is better to keep them visible to show everybody that the project is vibrant and full of good ideas. Additionally it may still be a source of inspiration for projects to be done by students etc. Cheers --kgh 20:28, 18 March 2012 (CET)
- I moved them to the MW page, and linked them for the SMW one. Did you see that link? --Jeroen De Dauw 15:57, 19 March 2012 (CET)
- Yes I saw that link. Still, why not having it here, too and additionally pointing to mw.org? Cheers --kgh 21:24, 19 March 2012 (CET)
