Visual representation[edit]

Textual representation[edit]

  • Tagcloud is a textual visualization using text snippets as a weighted list of entity frequency distribution.
  • Table
  • Exhibit allows advanced text search and filtering functionalities, with interactive maps, timelines, and other visualizations.

Graphs and plotting[edit]

  • Graphviz representing structural information as diagrams of abstract graphs and networks using the DOT language
  • Process - uses the GraphViz extension to display process graphs
  • Extension:Semantic Graph provides some parser functions to generate hypergraphs or freemaps from semantic and non-semantic relationships but the extensions is currently not compatible with SMW 1.7

Image representation[edit]

  • Gallery provide a the Mediawiki standard functionality to display images as a gallery while jcarousel plug-in enhances the gallery for a carousel ...

Relational visualization[edit]

  • Hyperbolic tree
  • Treemap
  • Decision tree

Geographical visualization[edit]

  • Map format (Displays queried geographical data onto an interactive map)
  • Google Maps format (Displays queried geographical data onto an Google Maps map)
  • KML format (Exports geographical data into KML format)

Development frameworks[edit]

Different development frameworks exists to help with the requirements for the data visualization. Some of the more common frameworks are:

  • D3 (formally Protovis) is a visualization toolkit for JavaScript using SVG
  • canviz is JavaScript library for drawing Graphviz graphs to a web browser canvas
  • JIT JavaScript InfoVis Toolkit
  • PhiloGL is a WebGL Framework
  • Spark is a JavaScript library that allows the simple integration of data from all over the Web in any HTML page
  • jOWL is a jQuery plugin for navigating and visualising OWL-RDFS documents.
  • Processing.js is the sister project Processing a programming language for data visualizations, digital art, interactive animations.
  • moowheel is a Javascript library that has been proposed by [Stuhr, Roman and Norheim, 2011] to be used in connection with RDF visualization but it seems the the library has not been updated since 2008.
